The next time you see ANYONE protesting against the opening of the Artic National WildLIfe Refuge(ANWR)ask them HOW they got to the docks where they sit collecting signatures on a petition against anwar.AND Who is paying their salary.
In the Anchorage Daily News classified section the various Enviromental Groups run ads to get someone from the 48(The Continental U.S.)to collect signatures at the Cruise Ship Docks..So,the ANIMALS of the state of Alaska can be "Saved" .
This happens EVERY year.
People from the South will recognise what I am saying with this explanation about ANWR. The various enviro groups ALWAYS show the caribou,and other animals in their literature/Films,etc. that slants public opinion against drilling in anwr.
The area where the actual drilling MAY happen one day is in the Northern most section.
That area,has NO caribou,NO Cute seals,or endangered species.
It is like the stagnant water of a cypress swamp, like a desert.NO animal life.NO endangered species.
NUTHIN. Just SNOW,and Blowing wind.
Of course,IF the Enviromental Organization,and POLITICIANS told the public the Truth about ANWR then maybe we would not have an ENERGY Crisis.
Ohh,and another thing for you 48er's the next time you take an "Alaskan Cruise" thinking you are supporting people and companies that are based in Alaska. Think again.
The majority of them keep total control of you from the time you set foot in Alaska. You Cruise in THEIR ship.Then you ride on a bus to the Cruise Lines Trinket Store to buy products made in 3rd world countries. Then you reboard the bus back to the Cruise Ship,thinking you did something to "SAVE" the Enviroment.
In Alaska Cruise Ship companies pay no taxes.And everytime the politicians "Think" about a head tax,the Tourist Industries Flood the politicians with emails and letters from "Concered" employees and consumers who are against the head tax.
The Bahamas have a "Head Tax" in 1986 it was $25.00,and in 1989,it was added in our plane tickets so we never knew just how much we were being hit up for.However in ALASKA $10.00 is Too much money,and might be the cause of people NOT giving the cruise ships THOUSANDS of Dollars to cruise Alaska.
The Cruise ships generate the Waste of a small city. And most of them use Open Water Dumping,to rid themselves of the Human waste, The "Treated" human waste is dumped overboard in places offshore called "Honey Holes". For you see it is TOO Expensive to TREAT the waste or hold it to be offloaded at the cruise ship dock and treated by the city waste water utility. You see,IF they had to do THAT.They would have to PAY to treat the waste.
